Jonathan Overend

For more than 25 years, Jonathan Overend has been at the forefront of British national media.  As one of the country’s most distinctive and trusted voices, he’s presented the most popular shows, commentated on the biggest events, reported on major stories, hosted glamorous audiences and interviewed ultimate superstars.

 

He’s probably best known for his commentary on Andy Murray’s 2013 victory at Wimbledon, in the final match of his 10 year tenure as tennis correspondent for the BBC, but is also known and valued or his trusted studio presenting, passionate football commentating and rigorous interviewing.

 

Jonathan started his international media journey while still at school, taking his first full-time job at BBC Essex during university studies, aged 21.
 On national radio, Jonathan has presented the lot: 5 Live Sport, Sports Report, Sportsweek, Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, Ashes Cricket, World Championship Athletics, World Title Boxing plus sport bulletins on Radios 1, 2 and 4 (Today Programme).

 

It’s this experience of the biggest occasions, in the best venues, talking to the stars and watching them perform, which makes Jonathan one of the UK’s genuine authorities on all things sport.  But he’s also spent time as a news presenter and, with a wide range of interests away from bats and balls, has plenty of strings to his broadcast bow!

 

And as one of the country’s most recognisable voices, Jonathan is a popular choice for voice-over. speaking, facilitating, hosting… or indeed story telling!  After all, It’s not all glamour…
 in a low-budget globetrotting career, he’s gone live from a crane, a canoe and a cupboard, interviewing Federer in a lift, Fergie in a store room and Schumacher in a runaway cab!
