Juliet Sargeant

Juliet Sargeant is a presenter and award-winning garden designer.  Her previous career in hospital medicine informs her unique approach to designing outside spaces, communicating the importance of the landscape to our health and well-being. Listening carefully to her clients’ requirements, Juliet creates truly individual spaces which help them to connect with the environment and enjoy the full potential of their gardens.

In 2016, Juliet designed the Modern Slavery Garden for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It was Chelsea’s first social campaign garden and was awarded a Gold Medal and the People’s Choice Prize. In 2017, the Modern Slavery Garden will be displayed in Hull as part of the Hull City of Culture celebrations.

Juliet also teaches garden design and planting to gardening enthusiasts as well as on professional courses. Having recently stepped down as Chair of The Society of Garden Designers, she is now on the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) selection panel for show gardens, also acting as a competition judge.

Juliet has won awards from the SGD in 2012 and 2015, for sustainability and hard landscaping design and was a finalist for the GG2 Leadership Awards 2016, which for 16 years has celebrated change-makers and role models in the BAME community.

Juliet’s presenter experience includes being a judge alongside Penelope Keith on C4's Village of The Year, video pieces for BBC’s Gardeners World, coverage of The RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2015 and a report for BBC Inside Out. She also appeared on BBC1’s daytime show People Power with Hairy Biker Dave Myers in which she and the team visited exceptional volunteering projects around the UK. She has also created a garden for Saturday Kitchen Live at the Hampton Court Flower Show this summer.
