Juliet Sergeant on Village of The Year, C4
What makes the perfect village and why do we as a nation love them so much? From a shortlist of over 400 applicants, Penny, and her team of 3 expert village judges (archaeologist and village historian Alex Langlands; garden designer Juliet Sargeant who broke ground as the first black designer at the Chelsea Flower show and went on to win the gold medal; and fashion designer and presenter of The Great British Sewing Bee Patrick Grant) scour the country for the very best, and crown one village ‘Village of the Year’.
Tonight (Saturday 20th January) five villages from this week’s heats go head-to-head for a spot in the grand final and the chance to win Village of the Year and the £10,000 prize money. Penelope Keith and her three judges have been searching for the very best of British village life, and tonight they will find out even more from the five contenders in the Western Zone - Will it be the buildings, the scenery or good old British eccentricity that wins the day?
You can watched Village of The Year weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4 and a peak show every Saturday at 8pm.
